Carpet in the interior: photo and description

When the repair is already at the final stage, the ceiling and walls are ready, all that remains is a trifle - to choose and lay the flooring. This is not so easy to do, because there are many types of coatings, and they differ not only in their properties, but also in price. Despite the wide range of choices, quite a lot prefer carpeting.

General characteristics

Carpet can be made either from natural or from synthetic materials - this is the main factor that determines the cost of the coating. Also, the carpet has a different pile length, starting from a long 50 mm, and ending with a short 5 mm. Carpet is sold in rolls of various lengths, which allows you to more accurately select the required size and minimize the amount of residue.

Advantages and disadvantages

One of the main advantages of a carpet is its high level of sound insulation and low heat loss. You will never hear neighbors complaining about your loud steps or the roar of furniture being moved. In addition, the use of carpet significantly increases the level of thermal insulation of the room. One more indisputable advantage of a carpet is the maximum simplicity in laying. For its installation, no preparatory work is required, and fasteners are carried out simply by skirting boards. Thanks to this installation method, the carpet can be laid on its own and in a short time.
As for the shortcomings, the main one is that the carpet may lose its original color over time, provided it is exposed to direct sunlight. Another negative quality is the likelihood of irritation in allergy sufferers, but this condition is not necessary, but possible.

Security Myths

Many believe that the carpet has a low fire safety, it can erupt from a dropped cigarette or match. This opinion is erroneous. Even at the production stage, carpet is treated with fire-fighting solutions, therefore, it is not so easy to set fire to it. Another erroneous opinion is the vulnerability of this coating to insects. Carpets are also treated with solutions that protect against ticks, moths and other insects.

The process of cleaning the carpet is also quite simple, as it is carried out using a conventional household vacuum cleaner. For a long pile coating, as well as periodic care, it is recommended to use an aqua-vacuum cleaner.
