DIY knitted decor for flower pots
Original houseplants serve as decoration of houses. Equally important in the landscaping of the apartment are flower pots. Their assortment today is very diverse, but exclusive unusual copies are quite expensive. Creating a design for your most ordinary, standard, unremarkable planter is very simple on your own. You can use removable knitted cases to decorate any flower pot.
It is not at all necessary to know how to knit to make such wonderful covers. For this, old knitwear that you no longer use, but can not throw away, is suitable. Give them a second life. Let them serve you some more time. Such accessories are especially relevant in the cold season. They give an additional feeling of warmth and comfort in the room in winter and protect plants from the cold:
What do we need for such a pot?
- old knitted sweater;
- flower pot;
- scissors;
- pins
- sewing machine for stitching (can be sewn manually)
Getting to work
- Cut the part from the sweater so that the knitted fabric completely encircles the pot. Attach the flower container to the sweater and cut out the part of the required size. You will need to fold the part in half and wrap it with a flowerpot. Do not forget to leave fabric allowances for freedom of fitting. Better then cut off the excess than cut out and sew the missing.
- From the wrong side of the sweater, fasten with pins, sew the cut part along:
- Turn the resulting workpiece onto the front side. Fold so that the longitudinal seam is on the inside, which will be adjacent to the pot. Attach a part to it and make sure that the size of the cover matches the circumference of the pots.
- Sew the knitted fabric with a blind transverse seam. The case should fit tightly around the pots.
- Transplant the plant into a prepared pot. It is better to remove the case, so as not to stain it with earth. After replanting the flower, gently clean the pot and put on the cover from below:
Exclusive handmade project is ready! It is easy to remove to wash or change to another.
You can make several such flowerpots by showing creative imagination. Knitted details can be decorated with beads, buttons, ribbons and many other items. Imagine how bright colors your window sill will play, on which multi-colored bright flower pots will line up. You can change them to avoid monotony in the interior.
The remaining rags from the sweater can decorate ceramic mugs, flower vases, sew pillowcases for sofa cushions.
